Description : From A27/A2038 junction on the Brighton bypass, take A2038 for about three quarters of a mile and turn L at lights. The mill is in Holmes Avenue.
An unusual 6-sided smock mill, built around 1820 on a tall flint and brick tower erected through a barn complex. Much internal machinery remains as the heart of a fascinating museum of milling, displaying many items rescued from other Sussex mills. An ideal educational resource. Sketched by John Constable. Refreshments in north barn.
Opening times : May to September, Sundays & Bank Holidays 14.30 -17.00. Parties by arrangement.
